The people of Massachusetts will have the option to vote on a ballot in November to give more workers sick leave. The initiative will appear this November as Question No. 4, called Earned Sick Time for Employees. The new law would allow employees to gain an hour of sick leave for every 30 hours that they work. The sick time off per year would cap at 40 hours a year.

The law would grant employees at companies with at least 11 workers with 40 hours of paid sick leave every year. At companies with less than 11 people, the sick leave would be in place, but it would be unpaid. Implementation of the new law would benefit about 1 million Massachusetts workers.
